A SpaceX Falcon 9 FT rocket will launch the Bangabandhu-1 payload from launch Complex 39A, Kennedy Space Center, USA. The Bangabandhu Satellite-1 (BS-1), will be the first Bangladeshi geostationary communications satellite operated by Bangladesh Communication Satellite Company Limited (BCSCL), which is scheduled to launch 05 May, 2018. The project is being implemented by Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).
Bangabandhu Satellite-1 Mission
SpaceX is targeting launch of Bangabandhu Satellite-1 on Friday, May 11 from Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A) at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, Florida. The two-hour launch window opens at 4:14 p.m. EDT or 20:14 UTC. A backup launch window opens on Saturday, May 12 at 4:15 p.m. EDT or 20:15 UTC. Bangabandhu Satellite-1 will be deployed into a geostationary transfer orbit (GTO) approximately 33 minutes after launch. The Bangabandhu Satellite-1 mission will be the first to utilize Falcon 9 Block 5, the final substantial upgrade to SpaceX’s Falcon 9 launch vehicle. Falcon 9 Block 5 is designed to be capable of 10 or more flights with very limited refurbishment as SpaceX continues to strive for rapid reusability and extremely high reliability. Following stage separation, SpaceX will attempt to land Falcon 9’s first stage on the “Of Course I Still Love You” droneship, which will be stationed in the Atlantic Ocean.

The Bangabandhu 1 (BD-1) satellite is the first geostationary communications satellite for Bangladesh. The satellite is to be located at 119.1° East longitude slot in geostationary orbit, where it will provide service to Bangladesh and neighboring countries. The satellite is built by Thales Aleinia Space and based on the Spacebus 4000B2 platform. It weighs 3500 kg and is fitted with Ku-Band and C-Band transponders. LIVE Hosting SpaceX Bangabandhu-1 (First Block 5 of Falcon 9!!!)
This is a big one! This is as exciting as Falcon Heavy to me. SpaceX is launching their first "Block 5" rocket out at Launch Pad 39A at Kennedy Space Center, Florida. They're launching Bangladesh's first satellite called Bangabandhu-1 which is pretty small weighing only 3,700 KG. It's heading to a geostationary transfer orbit. This means the First stage will have to land on the "Of Course I Still Love You" drone ship 611 km's down range. This upgraded and "final" block change of the Falcon 9 features better thermal protection on the first stage for less refurbishment after recovery, retractable landing legs, slightly increased thrust and new turbines inside the turbo pumps of the engines. There's several other small tweaks but this is the culmination of every landed and reflown Falcon 9 to date! Northrop Grumman Cargo Launch to the Space Station from NASA Wallops
Watch live as Northrop Grumman launches its Antares rocket and Cygnus spacecraft on a resupply mission to the International Space Station. Liftoff is targeted for 12:36 p.m. EST from NASA's Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia. The “S.S. Katherine Johnson” Cygnus spacecraft is named after Katherine Johnson, a NASA mathematician whose love of numbers helped send astronauts into Earth’s orbit and then to the Moon! This mission will bring with it 8,000 pounds of cargo including several technology development demonstrations, crew supplies, and vehicle hardware to the orbiting laboratory.

NASA’s Mars Perseverance rover landed on the Red Planet Thursday, nearly seven months after its liftoff from the Space Coast. Perseverance launched atop a United Launch Alliance Atlas V 541 rocket on July 30, 2020, from Space Launch Complex 41 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. Its target: the Jezero Crater, where it will look for signs of past life on Mars. Kennedy Space Center recently completed the second phase of an ongoing project to plant vegetation on about 4 and a half miles of dunes along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. The sandbanks protect the center’s critical space facilities, launch infrastructure, workforce, and wildlife from severe weather threats like hurricanes and tropical storms.

SpaceX is targeting Thursday, February 4 for launch of 60 Starlink satellites from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. The instantaneous window is at 1:19 a.m. EST, or 6:19 UTC. The Falcon 9 first stage rocket booster supporting this mission previously flew on four missions: the launches of GPS III Space Vehicle 03 and Turksat 5A and two Starlink missions. Following stage separation, SpaceX will land Falcon 9’s first stage on the “Of Course I Still Love You” droneship, which will be located in the Atlantic Ocean. One half of Falcon 9’s fairing previously flew on the SAOCOM-1B mission, and the other previously flew in support of the GPS III Space Vehicle 03 mission.

NASA and Boeing announced that they are targeting no earlier than March 25 for the company's second Orbital Flight Test (OFT-2) to the International Space Station. Part of the agency's Commercial Crew Program, OFT-2 will serve as an end-to-end test flight to certify Boeing's transportation system is ready to fly crew. Also this week, Kennedy Space Center guests and employees honored astronauts who have lost their lives in the name of space exploration. On Jan. 28, a Day of Remembrance Ceremony was held at the Space Mirror Memorial at Kennedy's Visitor Complex. The date also marked the 35th anniversary of the Challenger tragedy.
